Gross: From a design standpoint, we wanted to build for the entire voter experience throughout the election cycle so our users had access to civic tools they need including: voter registration, voter education and voter participation.įor several of these tools, we are using a new Snapchat feature called “Minis” which allows us to partner with a developer to build bite-sized utilities directly into Snapchat, inherently making these tools native to mobile, native to Snapchat and easy to share with friends. Please talk us through the product features and how they work? And with less than 30 days left to vote, and the most confusing cycle yet for voting options our focus will shift to helping all of these Snapchatters follow through on voting, whether in person or by mail, so that they show up.Īziz: Fascinating. We are thrilled with the excitement and engagement we are seeing with these tools - but we have a lot more work to do, especially with more time for voters to register in many states. Since Snapchat is a platform for close friends we know how much further those civic tasks can go when they come from a person you know and trust. We also know that friend to friend interactions matter - 4.75 million of Snapchatters who are 18+ have seen our voter engagement tools because of interactions with their friends, and 3 million of these users are 18-24.
